NEW LEAF TRUST

The New Leaf Trust is a charitable service mission that has been set up by Ms Smita Jayakar, a leading cinema and theatre actress from Mumbai, India. The intent of the trust is to fund projects for child education, a better life for children in urban slums and schemes that support old and aged individuals.

At a time when education has become the biggest differentiating factor, The New Leaf Trust intends to offer support to deprived and underprivileged students through its activities.

SETTING UP OF OLD AGE HOMES

The Trust will set up Old Age Homes aimed at creating a simple and peaceful living atmosphere for Senior Citizens.

Day Care Centers will be managed by the Trust.

Senior citizens would be provided with :

  • Identity Cards
  • Indoor games
  • Library
  • Reading room
  • Yoga and Dhyana
  • Food
  • Health Check up and Medical advices

SCHOLARSHIPS FOR UNDERPRIVILEGED STUDENTS

To identify and help students in dire need, the Trust will give scholarships to poor students. The trust will also reach out to deserving students in the underprivileged sections of the society across Mumbai.

FUND SUPPORT FOR BASIC EDUCATION

Social upliftment by facilitating primary and secondary education for students in need of funds and to identify and help students in dire need, the Trust will give scholarships to poor students. The trust will also reach out to deserving students in the underprivileged sections of the society across Mumbai.

SCHOOL INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT

The Trust will also make donations towards renovation and construction of dilapidated school buildings, mainly for municipal schools across Mumbai. The trust will also contribute towards school furniture etc.

FEED THE POOR

The Trust members intend to personally carry out ‘Feed the Poor’ programs with distribution of raw materials used for cooking at slum areas across Mumbai.

SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT

The New Leaf Trust also intends to fund self enhancement or spiritual development courses for individuals who do not possess the capacity to carry out these on their own. However, each case would require proper paperwork and proof checks. The trust also intends funding religious or spiritual travel for the poor and needy, after proper checks.

ADOPT A VILLAGE

In due course of time, the Trust also intends to roll out the ‘Adopt a village’ scheme, providing grassroot level help to the population therein, whether it be funding for child education, health or sanitation purposes, the ultimate aim being to improve the overall standard of living in the specific village.
